In 2006 the United Pharmacopeial Convention announced a revision to Chapter 61 and added Chapter 62 on Microbiological Examination of Non-Sterile Products. These changes must be implemented by May 2009 and have been made to harmonize the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) with the European Pharmacopeia (EP) and the Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP).
